Premiere Kansas City Moving Company – 816-410-0658

As we get closer to October, we get closer to the winter months and the weather that comes along with it. The Kansas City movers want to see you prepared for the shift in climate, so we’ve rounded up a few suggestions to help you transition through fall and into the coldest part of the year without worry.

First, make sure your home is properly insulated. This will also benefit you in the summertime when you’re cranking the air conditioner and want to retain cool air in your home. But first, it will be quite helpful at keeping your heater’s warm air within your house–more cozy and less cold!

In the same token, make sure all doors and windows are sized properly and aren’t acting as escape methods for air. By sealing off all cracks to the outside world, you’ll effectively keep the air you want in, and what you don’t want OUT.

Power wash the outside of your home. This includes patio space, decks, and other outside attachments and areas. The cooler months make this an ideal time to do work outdoors–that even includes touching up on paint and cleaning out gutters.

May your home be the best it can be this fall/winter season!

In the wake of recent natural disasters, the Kansas City movers thought we’d share a little advice on what to do post-bad weather to repair your home and get insurance to pay for it. After all, isn’t that why you have homeowner’s insurance in the first place?

First, leave the diagnostic procedures to the professionals. There is no need for you to climb on your roof and examine for leaks–if there is a weak spot you risk falling off or through the roof and thereby causing further damage. Take photos from as many angles as you can access, and have the technicians do the same from their “bird’s eye view” equipment.

Contact your insurance company and keep them up to speed with the state of your claims and repairs. Get pre-authorizations if possible, because they will save time in the approval process. Remember, keep a folder of all relevant paperwork–receipts and all, to ensure that your expenses are thoroughly documented to show your insurance company.

Kansas City realtors and developers are hotly anticipating a comeback for the real estate market–and that time may be on the way. As for the cost of homes in Kansas City, interest rates are at a rock bottom level, which has contributed to steady sales and a nice demand. While things aren’t bad anymore or great yet, they are certainly okay.

Last month, there were 17,308 houses available on the market for sale in the metropolitan Kansas City area. Usually, real estate markets look to have a six month supply of homes on the market, and Kansas City is at an almost ten month capacity right now. It’s not terrible, and it seems consistent. In fact, homes are still in the works–building permits for 262 homes were granted in June.

If you purchase or build a home in the Kansas City area, be sure to contact your favorite family movers, All My Sons. Our Kansas City movers have just what you need to get settled quickly in your new home in beautiful Missouri!

While they aren’t gone quite yet, the rate of homeowners filing for foreclosure is declining in the Kansas City area. Last month, about 1,200 homes went into foreclosure in the metropolitan Kansas City area. That may seem high, but that’s almost a 40% decrease from July of last year. More recently, the figure is 4% less than June of this year.

In the entire state of Missouri, about 2,370 homes went through foreclosure proceedings in July–a 38% decrease from July 2010. Hopefully the trends continue and we see foreclosures at a rate under 1000 for the month of August. The Kansas City movers know how valuable a home is to a family, and we certainly want the foreclosures to decrease.

Based on a survey that targeted large metro areas across the country, Kansas City Missouri ranked in the Top 20 for the best places to commute. Commuting to work is a pretty common occurrence in Kansas City, with about 65% of the residents commuting to work each day. With such a substantial amount of Kansas City-ans driving back and forth to work, the Kansas City movers have a challenge for you: carpool!

Carpooling is not only an easy way to inject a little “green” into your day, it’s also a great way to save money and build relationships. Feeling in touch with the outdoors? Why not ride your bicycle to work! Even switching up your driving habits one day per week can make a great impact. If you have the flexibility, talk to your boss and see if you can work a slightly tweaked day where you start early and leave early (or start late and leave late) to avoid rush hour traffic and idly wasting gas.

Have a job that you could do outside of the office? Telecommute! With today’s technology, you can Skype meetings with your co-workers and scratch the commute altogether.

Kansas City is a unique place to live, but in one way, it’s like a lot of other places–the downtown area is the hub of the city. Downtown Kansas City is filled with arts, culture, business, residence, dining and celebration. The Council for Kansas City Downtown seeks to keep the area safe, clean, and economically sound through initiatives like the Downtown Community Improvement District, which was initially established in 2002.

Whether you’re searching for a hot new restaurant, a gorgeous boutique stocked with amazing finds, or a place to relax and peruse fine art, the Kansas City movers are positive that downtown has everything you are looking for. It’s a bustling and exciting area to live, and a welcoming and lively area to visit. Contact your #1 Kansas City movers if you need help with your next downtown relocation.

Two Trader Joe’s locations are up and running in Kansas City as of July 15th. The California chain of grocery stores has gained quite a cult following, will it succeed in doing the same here in Kansas City? The store’s cheap wine, rightfully named Two Buck Chuck, should certainly be a hit.

Opening day was certainly busy, with devoted fans lined up at the door waiting to get in and stock up on Trader’s Joe goodies. Here at the Kansas City movers, we are personal fans of Trader Joe’s, and we hope the markets succeed. Granted, the hysteria that surrounded the store’s arrival was a bit much (one woman even postponed her c-section to get there opening morning?), but as the days pass we do wish Trader Joe’s luck in Missouri.

So, if you’re moving to Kansas City from California or any other area that’s gotten you accustomed to shopping at Trader Joe’s, rest assured your market will be here when you arrive!

The store’s new locations are at Ward Parkway Center and at the One Nineteen Shopping Center.

The amount of available homes in Kansas City grew in June, according to the Kansas City Association of Realtors. Compared to June 2010, home sales were down by 38%, and while reasons are speculating, a big likelihood involves the tax credit for home buyers that was in affect last year.

Though the numbers are down from 2010, the Kansas City movers are excited to share that the numbers for June are up 11% from May. Hopefully, the trend continues and the market picks up again–for the sake of realtors, sellers, and everyone involved in the moving process, such as your friendly Kansas City movers here at All My Sons.

The average price for a new Kansas City area home was $302,758, which is a 2% increase from last year. Subsequently, existing home sales dropped 2% to $163,125.

If you’re looking to relocate to Kansas City or you’re a KC resident looking to simply move homes, now could quite possibly be the time to buy. Check with your family movers at All My Sons Kansas City for the best moving rates and reliable services!

Fashion lovers, get ready! The Country Club Plaza of Kansas City is getting luxury label upgrades in the coming months. The mega store will be packed with Spade’s apparel, handbags, jewelry, shoes, stationary, eye wear, and hosiery. The designer herself hails from Kansas City.

For those of you moving to the area, rest assured you won’t be without big labels in your new hometown.

Hiring movers for a full-fledged relocation to a new home is a wise decision; a quick and careful moving crew sure to keep your furniture safe and your moving day short make scheduling relocation services well worth the cost. Enlisting friends to help pack and prepare for your moving day is also a wise decision; after all, that’s what friends are for. It is good to know you have friends you can count on when you need help prepping for your moving day.

Sometimes we need moving assistance for very short moves; so short that it is not cost-effective to hire a professional Kansas City moving company to handle the job. For example: purchasing a couch having no access to a truck or other vehicle big enough to move it to your home. The best option in most cases would likely be to rent a moving truck, but even rental trucks can be a bit costly for moving just one item. You may be lucky enough to need assistance with a small load of one or two items around the same time that a good friend requests assistance with his or her upcoming move. Why not pool your resources? You provide the extra set of hands to help your friend move in exchange for a little bit of truck space to move your small load where it needs to go. Many Missouri moving companies don’t even charge a fee for multiple trips so the additional cost would be well worth the convenience the two of you are able to provide one another!
