The May 22 tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri did extensive damage to local homes. As of yesterday, however, seven families whose homes were destroyed were given new homes by ABC’s popular do-gooder series, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The homes would not be possible without the 14,000 individuals who volunteered their time and labor, and also the companies and organizations who donated tools and materials.

The Kansas City movers want to encourage local residents to get involved with volunteer organizations in the area–whether it’s home rebuilding or animal care services, everyone has something to offer the community. Don’t underestimate what your help on a simple task could mean to someone who truly needs it.
