Penn Valley Dog Park – This off-leash dog park is located at 29th and Wyandotte and opened in April of 2004. The park is divided into two areas which includes 2.7 acres for large dog breeds and 1.8 acres for small, elderly and handicapped dogs. The Penn Valley Dog Park also has water fountains for both people and man’s best friend.
Swope Park Off Leash Area – Located in Kansas City’s largest urban park, Swope Park, this off-leash area opened in August of 2012. The Swope Park Off Leash Area is five acres of open space divided into areas for both small and large breed dogs. The large dog area will be closed for turf and drainage renovations until the spring of 2016, but the small dog area will remain open. Be sure to unpack your dog’s leash after moving to Kansas City because leashes are required on all animals entering and exiting Swope Park.
Waggin’ Trail Dog Park – Open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., this off-leash dog park is located at NE 32nd and Swift. The large dog area is 2.68 acres, while the small dog area is .98 acre. Waggin’ Trail Dog Park features a walking trail, agility course for training, human and dog water fountains and several benches.
