According to the economic development magazine Site Selection, Kansas ranks as 13th in the nation as a hot spot for new business projects. The magazine judged areas by various criteria such as a minimum of $1 million investment costs, square footage of projects encompassing 20,000 square feet or that create 50 new jobs. The Kansas City movers have found that in our region, 17 new manufacturing facilities, 32 expansions on manufacturing firms, and 73 new offices, distribution centers, and mixed use developments helped the 122 projects in Kansas meet the criteria set and push Kansas to a high spot on the list.
For the fiscal year of 2012, these economic developments were a part of the total boost statewide that brought over 13,000 new jobs to Kansas, and expansions allowed over 2,000 jobs to remain in Kansas that were at risk of moving to a different state.
