While they aren’t gone quite yet, the rate of homeowners filing for foreclosure is declining in the Kansas City area. Last month, about 1,200 homes went into foreclosure in the metropolitan Kansas City area. That may seem high, but that’s almost a 40% decrease from July of last year. More recently, the figure is 4% less than June of this year.
In the entire state of Missouri, about 2,370 homes went through foreclosure proceedings in July–a 38% decrease from July 2010. Hopefully the trends continue and we see foreclosures at a rate under 1000 for the month of August. The Kansas City movers know how valuable a home is to a family, and we certainly want the foreclosures to decrease.
