This summer upon moving to Kansas City, making friends may be one of those aspects of the move that pose more of a challenge than others. Everyone wants to feel welcomed and accepted, and it doesn’t always come easily in the beginning. If you are moving to Kansas City and you know no one in your future home, then you need to start again from scratch. It happens naturally, but if you need a few tips that will facilitate the process of making friends, then All My Sons Moving & Storage is happy to help. Here is our two cents on the matter. Best of luck with your new life in Kansas City!
• Don’t be afraid to go out alone. Go explore your new city, and enjoy the novel sights! Don’t worry if you are taking outings alone. It builds character to feel confident, even if you are alone. You will begin to feel more comfortable in your own skin, and people will gravitate towards you because of your confidence. Focus on enriching your life, and friends will join you with time.
• Use your hobbies and interests to create a network after moving to Kansas City. Even though you moved to Kansas City, you are still the same person. Find groups in your new city that appeal to your personal interests, and begin building a new network of people with similar interests. For example, if you love to paint, then sign up for an art class. You will meet people in that class.
• Use online resources to meet people. Kansas City movers suggest certain programs, such as Meetup, that are designed for people to make friends. These resources are excellent for a newbie in a foreign city.
